ZyPerUHD

Release Notes:

Starting with version 2.5 of the ZyPer Management Platform, we introduced a new form of updating firmware on the ZyPerUHD & UHD60 endpoints. This allows the user a simple process to update all ZyPerUHD hardware.

The breakdown of these update packages and supported ZMP revisions are listed in Section 7 under Firmware Capability in the ZMP release notes.

NOTE: Version 4.x of the ZyPer Management Platform is a major release with significant changes to the operating environment. For full details on all the changes, please review the ZyPer Management Platform 4.1 .2 Release Notes document before proceeding with the update.

NOTE: You must update to version 4.1.2.xxxxx of the ZMP before updating the endpoints with this package. https://www.zeevee.com/support/firmware-updates/zyper-management-platform/

If you are using the ZyPer Embedded Management Platform (ZEMP) running ZMP 3.2.1, this update package is not compatible.

New Features Added:

  • Added support for 2688×1920 @ 50Hz and 60Hz, and 3840×1371 @ 50Hz and 60Hz input timings
  • Added ARP-to-Dante audio routing without requiring video pairing
  • Added separate HDCP mode control and status reporting for HDMI and USB-C input handling
  • Added input HPD control and RX HDMI output 5V force-off control
  • Added USB device information, status, control, and power-management APIs
  • Added network bandwidth statistics and related query support
  • Added ARP-to-audio-addon routing on RX, including Dante/AES67 related controls
  • Added TX Dante-to-analog audio support
  • Added HDCP configuration and query interfaces
  • Updated mDNS/avahi discovery behavior, including device-name, hostname, subtype, and AVoIP transmitter/receiver service handling
  • Channel List search now supports KDS-17-LITE model detection and MAC address search without colon separators

Improvements: 

  • Improved built-in EDID migration, ordering, and management.
  • Improved video signal_type status reporting.
  • Improved substream supervision and automatic recovery.
  • Improved USB device identification and USB-C charging behavior.
  • Improved SiTime clock handling and the genlock flow.
  • Updated the 1E / 1EA MCU firmware to v1.1.15 and the wall plate MCDP5200 firmware to v1.1.0.
  • Updated the avahi stack and related mDNS components.
  • Improved configuration import failure handling and log export behavior.
  • Improved HDCP status reporting and failure-counter reset behavior.
  • Internal integration changes were included to stabilize later USB camera compatibility fixes.
  • Integrated Dante AV-A 1.7.1 firmware.

Issues fixed:

  • Fixed USB camera compatibility issues with Logitech MeetUp 2, MAXHUB U50, and cameras that return oversized USB transfers.
  • Fixed HTTPS enable/disable changes incorrectly stopping the DVR service and video link.
  • Fixed USB-C charging not turning off correctly.
  • Fixed some laptops rebooting when charging was enabled in USB-C Try Source mode.
  • Fixed TPS65988 firmware-version reads potentially becoming stuck during an upgrade.
  • Fixed corrupted trailing data in AES67 SAP query results.

  • Fixed missing CRT EDID when the unit boots without a connected display.
  • Fixed cases where no audio caused no video.
  • Fixed intermittent avahi-daemon startup failure when multiple Dante units boot at the same time.
  • Disabled network chip EEE on 2E/2D by default to avoid compatibility issues with Netgear switches.
  • Fixed occasional no-network condition when booting with the fiber port connected.
  • Fixed RS-232 passthrough issue after reboot when repeated ip_got events occur.
  • Fixed HP KUS1206 keyboard hot-plug compatibility.
  • Fixed USB camera compatibility issues with Logitech Rally Bar, Huddly IQ, Logitech Rally Huddle, UC-V-L17, CAM-210-PTZ, JX1700US (4K), and Omnikey 3021 smart card reader devices.
  • Fixed eARC/Toslink apply-order issue where hdmiout had to be set twice.
  • Fixed black screen on 1E-class units when HDCP state changes during YouTube/Prime playback.
  • Fixed potential data partition mount failure by adding e2fsck checking for damaged journal conditions.

Issues Resolved

  • Encoders connected to one-to-many Decoders send unnecessary commands that will cause the video to fail on the decoders.
  • Encoders may be slow to respond with many Decoders on the network.
  • Wallplate Encoders would reboot or drop video due to a memory leak.
  • UHD60 encoder and decoders now support 1500 MTU for all packets Max length.
  • On new joins, UHD60 decoders may flicker to the idle screen before stabilizing.
  • Decoder switching may flash the engineering On Screen Display (OSD) information.
  • EDID on ZUHD60-1EA is not saved after rebooting.

Release Notes:

Security Update: No ZeeVee products are susceptible to the recently identified log4j vulnerability. This includes all ZvPro, HDbridge, and ZyPer models.

Release Notes:

  • For second generation UHD devices, use the firmware update file with the ".bin2" file extension.*
  • First generation and second-generation hardware can be determined by the device MAC address.

Installing the New Firmware:

ZyPer Management Platform version 2.5 and newer has a revamped firmware process. Now all ZyPerUHD & ZyPerUHD60 devices use a single *.up1update file. This applies to encoders, decoders, and all hardware versions of ZyPerUHD/ZyPerUHD60.

  1. Please visit the ZeeVee website to obtain the latest version of the firmware.
  2. Click on the link on the ZeeVee website to download the latest firmware to your local computer.
  3. Make note of the location where the firmware file was downloaded.
  4. Enable the Source and/or Display panel from the Panel Selection Menu.
  5. Right-Click on the device and select Device Details and then select Actions.
  6. Drop the appropriate *.UP1 file in the outlined box grey shaded area.
  7. The *.UP1 file name will appear below the words "Selected file".
  8. Click the "Update Device" button.
  9. A confirmation box will appear. Click "Update" to proceed and "Cancel" to abandon the update.
  10. The video will drop when the device reboots at the end of the update process.
  11. Refer to log panel for more information on device update.

For ZMP Versions older than 2.5, use these instructions:

1. Download the latest firmware ZIP file from the ZeeVee website. Make note of the location of where the ZIP file was downloaded.
2. Extract the two .BIN files from the ZIP file.
3. Open Windows Explorer and enter the IP address of the Management Platform using FTP.
4. The files folder will be displayed.
5. Drag and drop the .BIN files into the /files folder.
6. Use the Telnet protocol to access the Management Platform API.
7. Use the “update device” command to update the encoders and decoders.

8a. When updating ZyPerUHD encoders, specify the file that matches “IPE5000_xxx.bin” with “xxx” replaced with the file version number.
8b. When updating ZyPerUHD decoders, specify the file that matches “IPD5000_xxx.bin” with “xxx” representing the file version.

9a. For MAC addresses that begin with: 34:1b:22 - use the file extension .bin.

9b. For MAC addresses that begin with: 6c:df:fb - use the file extension .bin2.

10. The ZyPerUHD devices will automatically reboot at the end of the update process.
