State-of-the-art AV

    Museums, long sources of education and entertainment for people of all ages, have found it necessary to update their approach to engage younger, tech-savvier audiences. Using state-of-the-art AV, including video walls and interactive displays, several high-profile museums, including the Basketball Hall of Fame, Tennessee State Museum, National Law Enforcement Museum and the soon to be opened National Museum of the United States Army, have implemented advanced AV systems that are designed to attract, keep the interest and pique the curiosity of today’s visitors.

Joseph S. Chordas

  • Joseph Chordas is Vice President, Marketing and North American Sales for ZeeVee, a global pioneer and leader in the development and deployment of AV distribution systems for industrial, commercial, and residential applications.
  • In this role, he is responsible for North American Sales as well as the company’s global marketing strategy.
  • Chordas’ roots in professional AV run deep, previously holding positions with Discover Video (VP, sales), Haivision (director of sales, New England and Upstate New York), VPod Solutions (VP, sales, North America), and VBrick Systems (director of sales).
  • Chordas has a B.B.A. in Banking and Finance from Hofstra University.

William Todd
Senior Systems Engineer
Design and Production Inc., (D&P)

 

  • Mr. Todd serves as Senior Systems Engineer and Programmer on the implementation of audio, video, computer and electronics for visitor center and museum projects.
  • In addition to his diversified experience with audio, video and computer technologies he excels at custom electronics for interactive exhibits and lighting interface.
  • He is a graduate of University of Cincinnati with a B.S. in Computer Science Technologies.
  • He also has completed several certification and training courses including those at Eastern Acoustic Works, Acoustic Theory and Design, ORR Professional Services, Confined Space Training at OSHA.

Paul Morando
Chief of Exhibits
National Museum of the United States Army

 

  • Mr. Morando began his career as a civilian in the Army Museum program in 2003 as the Director of the Harbor Defense Museum at Fort Hamilton, NY.
  • In 2007 he became the Director of the Casemate Museum at Fort Monroe, VA.
  • In 2011 he went on to be the Director of the Quartermaster Museum at Fort Lee, VA and in October 2017 became the new Chief of Exhibits of the National Museum of the United States Army.
  • He served in the Army Reserves as a photographer on a Public Affairs team deploying to Guantanamo Bay, Cuba, and supporting missions in Korea, Egypt, and Guatemala.
  • Mr. Morando holds a Masters Degree in History from the City University of New York.
  • He currently resides in Woodbridge, VA with his wife and four children.

 

AGENDA

  • Exploring the AV systems of various museum projects, Design & Production and its technology partner ZeeVee will share best practices and key learnings in designing the museums of today and the future.

LEARNING OBJECTIVES

  • Upon completion, attendees will be able to serve the museum space with more creative and engaging solutions to attract wider audiences, especially among the young.

  • Upon completion, attendees will have a better understanding of best practices for designing and implementing video walls and interactive exhibits which engage museum visitors and pique their curiosity.

  • Upon completion, attendees will understand the technical challenges and pitfalls of implementing AV over IP in a Museum and become better equipped to address and overcome those challenges.
