OCTOBER 2021
Hoping to See You in Orlando at the End of the Month!
After what seems like an eternity, it’s InfoComm showtime—and while there will be significantly less people attending overall, we’re looking at the bright side.

The upcoming Orlando gathering will provide the opportunity for us to conduct more in depth demonstrations of our SDVoE, AVoIP and RF signal distribution solutions along with the benefit of being able to spend more time with each of you to better understand your needs and answer questions and concerns that you and your customers may have.

When you stop by our booth, #1401, we’ll show you a few new additions to our ZyPer4K family, already the industry’s largest offering of AVoIP solutions that enable the distribution and switching of uncompressed 720p, 1080p HD, Ultra HD and 4K resolution content, audio and control via off-the-shelf 10Gb Ethernet switches.

Included are the ZyPer4K-XR ruggedized encoders and decoders, designed and manufactured to meet the most demanding applications. The systems feature a durable aluminum chassis with Neutrik® locking and Switchcraft® rugged connectors that enable them to be easily integrated in challenging rental and staging, performance arts, yachts, military environments and beyond. In addition, the ZyPer4K-XR models offer fanless thermal management that enables deployment in noise-sensitive settings. More information on the ZyPer4K-XR can be found in the Product Focus section of this newsletter.

The recently announced ZyPer4K-XS small footprint fanless encoders and decoders are ideal for space constrained and noise sensitive environments including corporate, higher education and government facilities.

We’ll also be shining a light on the ZyPerPad IP-enabled keypad controller, an intuitive device that provides a simple means of sending commands to the ZyPer Management Platform (ZMP). It has a browser-based graphical user interface, supports DHCP and static IP addresses while providing individual button configuration via a simple to use web user interface. The ZyPerPad's 10 buttons can be programmed to execute any ZMP API command, or series of API commands, including the ability to run “presets” consisting of an unlimited number of commands.

We all know that, at any show, it is usually a handful of meetings that lead to securing the deals that benefit our businesses the most. The show this month is no exception and we are looking forward to, once again, engaging on a personal level.

Respectfully,

Bob Michaels
CEO, ZeeVee

Product Spotlight: ZyPer4K-XR
The new ZeeVee ZyPer4K-XR rugged uncompressed 4K encoder/decoders, which make their debut at InfoComm 2021 later this month in Orlando, feature a durable aluminum chassis with Neutrik® locking and Switchcraft® rugged connectors that enable them to be easily integrated in challenging AV applications in rental and staging, performance arts, yachts, military environments and beyond.

Like all encoders and decoders in the ZyPer4K family, the ruggedized ZyPer4K-XR models allow for the distribution and switching of the highest quality video, audio and control in conjunction with off-the-shelf 10Gb Ethernet switches over either fiber or copper wiring. They deliver perfect pixel for pixel reproduction of uncompressed 720p, 1080p HD, Ultra HD and 4K resolution content, while eliminating the need to have a separate AV network or proprietary matrix switcher for video and other AV content. Sources can also be changed instantly without programming IP-based architecture, enabling users to instantly switch from one source to another without any loss of frames – even at 4K resolutions.

In addition, the ZyPer4K-XR models offer fanless thermal management that enables them to be deployed in noise-sensitive settings and provide support for 10Gb PoE+ which minimizes the need for additional power outlets throughout the installation area.

Aiding installation flexibility, the units have M10 mounting holes and USB human interface device (HID) support for low latency and low power connectivity to external devices such as mice and keyboards.

Additional ZyPer4K-XR highlight features include:
  • Supports stereo analog and digital audio up to 8 channels
  • HDMI 2.0 (full 4K 4:4:4 60Hz support)
  • HDCP 2.2 compliant
  • 128-bit AES encryption
  • Supports HDR10 and HDR10+
  • ZMP (ZyPer Management Platform) with software GUI allows simple set-up and control of ZyPer4K
  • Video wall and multiview support
You can learn more about the ZyPer4K-XR by visiting our InfoComm booth (#1401) or contacting us at sales@zeevee.com.

As we’re fond of saying, education is key to transitioning the pro AV industry to the SDVoE AVoIP signal distribution solution, both in terms of understanding the key benefits of the platform and the best practices for its successful integration. On all counts, the SDVoE Academy is an invaluable resource.

Since its inception in 2018, SDVoE Academy has attracted more than 5,000 students and served more than 25,000 lessons over more than 100 different courses in video technology, network basics and system design across a variety of vertical markets.

A major upgrade to the SDVoE Academy adds new features designed to facilitate learning and community engagement for systems designers, integrators and end-users.

You'll benefit from a simplified experience, the ability to customize your learning, and the opportunity to connect with other AV professionals. SDVoE Academy has even implemented a dashboard that lets you track your progress as you develop the skills you need to take advantage of the latest technologies for AV signal management and AV-over-IP.

You can see all the new and improved SDVoE Academy has to offer here.

“All parties agreed it would require a SDVoE/AV-over-IP infrastructure to take the facility’s video wall to the next level,” said Joe Chordas, vice president marketing and North American sales at ZeeVee. “Our ZyPer4K encoders and decoders, which rely on Semtech BlueRiver AV technology that is the foundation for all SDVoE components, provided advanced routing flexibility and multi-matrix switching for a wide array of content.”

As a result of the upgrade, NMR was able to engineer 175 different multiviews — equaling a dozen multiviews per screen — that display a seemingly endless combination of images simultaneously. The SDVoE/AV-over-IP platform enabled this project to be accomplished with less devices, saving hundreds of thousands of dollars in multiview processing alone and taking up a significantly smaller footprint. Jan-Arne Rosenstein, Sales Director DACH at ZeeVee, accompanied the UTUM project. For him, it was important that the MUC could be launched with effective and forward-looking signal management including the associated technology. "Controlling, not programming" is his motto for the distribution of AV signals over networks. The setup of the "AV over IP" network is easy to handle and requires only the ZeeVee encoders and decoders on the hardware side, which conveniently connect to each other automatically via the network. The "ZyPer Management Platform", which can also run on a NUC PC, allows the user a free and arbitrary signal path assignment via drag & drop. Here is the link to the entire story.

Employee of the Month – Jay Bolster

If you’ve ever attended one of ZeeVee’s Certified Solution Partner Training webinars on AVoIP and RF Modulation, then you will undoubtedly recognize Jay Bolster, training manager and ZeeVee employee we’re spotlighting in October. In addition to hosting webinars, Jay also creates and updates training materials, provides technical support for customers on RF distribution and AVoIP systems, assists the sales team with technical questions during business meetings and much more.

“Throughout my six years at ZeeVee, I’ve always felt welcome and taken care of by everyone in the company. My team, especially, is always helping each other out and making sure we’re at our best for our customers,” said Jay.

Like many passionate educators, Jay loves teaching and leaving a positive impact on the community. His greatest accomplishments include traveling around the country teaching technical training classes and receiving a 100% “I would recommend this class” rating on evaluation forms submitted by attendees. He also feels a great sense of accomplishment every time he reads a letter complimenting his technical support.

When Jay worked at Hewlett-Packard from 2000 to 2014, he saw the rapid takeover of VoIP from traditional phone systems. Now, he says he’s seeing the same disruption in the pro AV industry; customers are dumping out-of-date matrix switches and HDbaseT systems for fast, easy and flexible AVoIP solutions.

“People are often surprised by the depth and breadth of ZeeVee’s product lines. From AVoIP to RF modulation, our products help us easily compete – and often beat – companies 10 or 100 times our size,” said Jay. “Also, our technical support team is second to none. We often get calls asking for help with third-party problems because they know our support staff will pick up the phone and ensure their problems are fixed quickly.”

Jay currently lives in Portland, Maine, with his 15-year-old daughter. For the last two years, he’s been playing disc golf with friends and recently scored his first Ace, which is the equivalent of a hole-in-one (see image above). He also loves spending quality time outdoors, whether it’s at the beach, riding in his Jeep, working on his photography skills or camping. In the future, as the pandemic recedes, Jay is looking forward to teaching more in-person training classes.
