Spotlight on voestalpine Stahlwelt, Linz, Austria
The voestalpine Stahlwelt exhibition, located in Linz, Austria, is a facility dedicated to telling the story of the steel production and processing capabilities of the Austrian voestalpine Group. The exhibition space and adjacent event center operate as a multifunctional location, hosting hundreds of events annually prior to the pandemic. In 2019, facility managers realized that in order to keep up with the increasing media technology requirements of internal and external event organizers, they needed to upgrade the facility’s AV system.
When the management team for the facilities started looking for an open standard AVoIP solution as an alternative to old school matrix switchers, it came across a white paper on SDVoE, which demonstrated the possibility of connecting video sources without restrictions via an IP network. Also convincing was the fact that all hardware components within the SDVoE standard are fully compatible and deployable, regardless of the manufacturer.
After extensive research and comparison, voestalpine chose ZeeVee ZyPer4K encoders and decoders, along with the ZyPer Management Platform, to deliver 4K video over its existing network with near-zero latency. From the initial decision to switch to SDVoE technology to the final installation, the year-long AV upgrade project was carried out in the background without interrupting event operations.
