What channels do you filter with these devices? I know you offer more than one channel filter for people in different situations, but what channel filter(s) do you hand out the most often?
Frequency 125 is the most common. This is frequency 125, which does NOT correspond to channel 125 on your set top box or channel 125.xx on your TV. It would correspond to analog channel 125, but the only time we have ever seen an analog signal on frequency 125, it was just a fencepost signal used to mark the top of the useable spectrum and not an actual TV signal.
Cable providers have told us that frequencies 125 and 135 are very rarely used. Since almost all (if not all) digital HD TV's with QAM tuners go up to frequency/channel 125, we choose that as the default.
Jim, how steep is the cut off/reflection for channell 125 filter, I was wondering if lower channel power levels would be reduced by the notch depth... Im checking to see what I have just below 125 they are moving QAM channels all around preparing for DTV cutover so I cant tell if I lost anything or it moved. I have COX cable in Virginia.
The 125 filter will typically block 124, 125, 126. Keep in mind this not the same as channel 124-126 you see on your cable box. We have had very few folks loose anything (or at least anything they cared about) when using the 125 filter, but it has happened. That is why we offer the 135 as a back up. Hope this helps!
