Frame rates and pulldown
A post on another forum had an exchange that went like this:
Post: "So all my 1080p mkvs are encoded at 23.976fps (something like that), and based on your comment it would appear less smooth."
Reply: "I think the ZvBox only accepts 720p60 VGA input, or 720p59.94. So when you play the 1080p23.976 mkv file, your PC must convert it both spatially (1080p to 720p) and temporally (23.976 to 59.94 with 2-3 pulldown) to produce a 720p59.94 VGA output. The ZvBox accepts this VGA signal, but only encodes every other frame, so you end up with 2-2-2-4 pulldown (which appears less smooth than 2-3 pulldown)."
Could you comment on this?

At present ZVBox supports 720p30, but a near term release will bring it up to 720p60, and a release later this year will be 1080p30. So there will be no need to do any resolution or frame rate adaptation by the video adapter (although, they do that quite well). In general, we feel the video quality is very good, but we're continuing to make it as good as possible.
